Alii Kai Dinner Cruise

We’ve booked our last minute ticket after debating whether or not to go.  We were picked up from our hotel around 4:30 and transported to the pier. It was a short 10 minute ride.  Our host, ‘Cousin Handsome’ as he like to call himself, was pretty entertaining during the ride.

Once we got off the boat, we took glamour shots in front of the catamaran.  We chose the regular seating vs. the window seating to save some money.  We were told it cost $10 to upgrade when we got there.  We were fine with regular seating because you can still get an OK view from where we were sitting, plus you can roam around and take pictures on the 2nd and 3rd deck after your dinner.

The staff were all very helpful, especially Cousin Handsome. I guess this is how they do things in Hawaii?  He got our drinks for us. I had the Long Beach (like a long island, but with cranberry vs. coke) and my boyfriend had the vodka tonic.  Both drinks were pretty strong, so it was sitting throughout dinner.  It was watered down by the time I wanted to drink it.

The dinner was buffet style and we were given the go by the usher to line up and get our food.  The line was short and the food was always kept refilled and fresh.  The food was delicious!  Check the website for the menu which is subject to change.  I had the tossed greens with Italian dressing, braised beef with cabernet sauce, and grilled island chicken with sweet soy ginger sauce, which was juicy and tender, Sautéed Mahi-mahi with Crushed Macadamia Nut Cream Sauce, Buttered Mashed Potatoes, Italian Pasta with Pesto Cream Sauce and fresh pineapple and watermelon slices.  There was plenty of opportunity to go up for seconds all though I was stuffed!

After dinner we were given some time to roam about the three levels of the catamaran and take pictures of the wonderful view of Waikiki and Diamond Head and the sunset before the Polynesian review show.  The staff was very warm and had a great attitude that rallied the guests and got them to participate in all kinds of spirit shouts, competition among buses for who’s was the funniest.

My boyfriend said he really enjoyed it and said it was really fun.. Think of it as a luau on a boat.. Because they do the Polynesian show after the dinner, and the cousins will get you to dance! Don’t be shy!  Almost everyone was getting up out their chairs and dancing!
