Hawaii’s ancestors held a deep and profound respect for dolphins, or nai’a. It’s a tradition the captains and crew at Ko Olina Ocean Adventures continue to honor and preserve, allowing our visitors to passively view the dolphins, but with a policy of no touching, and no loud or disruptive behavior. Our swim with dolphins procedure is to have our snorkelers assume a passive float position. The longer you hold perfectly still, the longer your dolphin encounter will last. Captain Todd and Captain Mick were some of the first to pioneer safe and non-intrusive dolphin encounters and whale watching with these wonderful ocean creatures. We care about and wish to communicate our concern and reverence for our natural environment and the unique Hawaiian culture. Established in 1850, Kualoa is a 4000 acre working cattle ranch, spread from the steep mountain cliffs to the sparkling sea. Located on the northeastern side of Oahu in the Hawaiian countryside, it is less than an hour from Honolulu. The ranch terrain varies from dense rainforest to broad open valleys and from beautiful white sand beaches to awesome verdant cliff faces. It is truly a paradise for outdoor recreation with many places accessible only by horseback, on an all terrain vehicle or by hiking.

Pearl Harbor Memorial

A “must-do” activity for anyone visiting Oahu, a visit to the Arizona Memorial in Pearl Harbor is one not to be forgotten. The memorial honors those whose lives were taken on December 7, 1941, when the Japanese attacked the U.S. Pacific Fleet. At the USS Arizona Memorial, tour visitor exhibits outlining the Pearl Harbor attack and pay respects to the hundreds of American servicemen entombed in the battleship below.

From there, you’ll head to the rolling  green hills of Punchbowl National Cemetery bursting with flowers. As somber as it is beautiful, this famous site is where those who died in the Pacific naval war are buried. To end on a lighter note, you’ll get a narrated tour through downtown Honolulu with more historical sights. In addition to the impressive state buildings and churches, you’ll see Iolani Palace, the one and only royal palace on American soil. Come face-to-face with a statue of the great Hawaiian warrior-king who united the Hawaiian islands, King Kamehameha. By the time you get back to your hotel, you’ll feel part of Hawaii and American history.

One Day Tours are the ideal way to explore more of Hawaii, beyond Waikiki. The Evening Volcano Special is a true adventure. You’ll visit the famed Hana Bay itself, along with Maui’s famous windsurfing beach, Hookipa. For those interested in Maui’s lush jungles and impressive volcano, this is the one-day tour for you. You’ll witness Maui’s Mt. Haleakala, “House of The Rising Sun,” and hear the Hawaiian legend behind the massive volcanic crater. You’ll see stunning views of Maui, the Pacific Ocean, and West Maui Mountains along the way, and come to understand why this spot is regarded as one of the planet’s most powerful energy points. You’ll venture into Iao Valley until you reach a peaceful rainforest. This is where the bright green Iao Needle springs from the earth in all of its green glory. Believe it or not, it’s possible to behold Kauai’s most famous sights in just one day. This tour captures all the highlights including a visit to awesome Waimea Canyon, Hawaii’s “Grand Canyon of the Pacific.” Eucalyptus trees, yellow ginger, and mokihana berries rise up the 3,500 feet well-pleated cliffs. As if in a dream, a boat ride up the Wailua River will take you to the enchanting Fern Grotto, said to be the most romantic place in Hawaii. As you cruise down the river, a fern-lined lava cave comes into view. You can almost imagine a couple exchanging vows there, as Hawaiian paddlers sing their sweet song…and they do. Lush valleys, dense rainforests and hidden streams fill your day, while a 40-foot waterfall makes its cameo with Makaleha Mountains and a restored Hawaiian village as the backdrop. Next, your pilot sets his course for pristine Hanauma Bay. A lofty view of Hanauma reveals the abundant coral beneath the emerald sea. Your next stop on your journey will be the black sculptured sea cliffs of Makapu‘u. Once above Makapu‘u you are treated to breathtaking views of sea cliffs that rise from the deep blue ocean to heights of nearly 1,000 ft. Nestled on the summit of these cliffs is historic Makapu‘u Light House, reminding us just how unforgiving this coastline can be to mariners.

We then head around the rugged eastern coastline for an aerial perspective of Sea Life Park and the estate from that classic 80s TV hit Magnum P.I. As we fly over Kailua and Lanikai beaches, you’ll understand why this stretch of beach was ranked one of the top beaches in the world. We’ll then cross the breathtaking Pali Lookout and head for the rain forest of  Nu‘uanu Valley. Nestled deep in the valley is a 200 ft. waterfall that is rarely seen by kama’aina and visitors alike. Before returning to the airport you’ll have a rare opportunity to get an aerial perspective of Pearl Harbor’s Battleship Row and the hallowed waters surrounding the USS Arizona.

The Sacred Falls helicopter tour includes most of the Lanikai tour and continues northward form Point Lanikai to Kaneohe Bay, Ka‘a‘awa Valley and Sacred Falls. John Hirokawa, the flamboyant master of ceremonies for the hit show “Magic of Polynesia,” is a self-described fitness fanatic who is uncompromising when it comes to his health. This 35-year-old father of three keeps himself in shape not just by exercising regularly and eating right, but by performing; his show requires him to run, jump, climb, and bend on a regular basis, not to mention glide down a 35-foot wire from ceiling to stage.

After obtaining a business administration degree from University of Hawai’i at Manoa, Hirokawa set out to make it big in showbiz – and succeeded spectacularly. These days, he can be found headlining at a 700-seat, $7.5 million showroom at the lush Waikiki Beachcomber Hotel. It took a lot of hard work to get to the top, but he doesn’t regret a minute of it. The Boats
X-treme Parasail operates two custom parasail boats with all the latest safety features. The vessel is operated by USCG licensed captains and crew and carries 1,200 feet of line enabling them to offer you a wide variety of rides. They have two boats each able to carry twelve passengers each.
